The robots are fun, but inconsequential to the story itself.
You see, in a world where boxing matches are done with robots, an old generation bot is tough and relies more on its handler's commands than on its programming. In the end the father and son team battle the robot of a rich Russian woman and her pet Japanese programmer. Yeah, they used a tiny bit of Rambo as well, apparently.
The film was a nice feel good movie. The technical aspects were ludicrous, but again, not relevant, the actors played well and the story, as predictable as it can be, was nice nevertheless. A thumbs down for using women as walking clichés. A thumb up for using Kevin Durand, who is among my favorite bad ass actors. Bottom line: everything I expected and a little more, thanks to Hugh Jackman and Dakota Goyo, who carried the film.
